Google prevails in lawsuit brought by the Author's Guild

A lawsuit claiming that Google Inc. was violating copyright laws by scanning books without the writer's permission was dismissed by a federal judge.  Google has been in the business of making digital copies of books for the past nine years.  The Author's Guild first sued Google in 2005 by claiming that Google was not making "fair use" of this material when it offered searchable portions from the work online.

Complex IP dispute settled for a little over a million dollars

A lawsuit filed by a pair of solutions providers has been settled.  Technology Integration Group had accused Nexus IS and former employees of TIG of theft of trade secrets.  Nexus has also been accused of illegally hiring on former TIG personnel in violation of various contracts.  Nexus has decided to settle the lawsuit for $1.04 million without any admission of guilt.
